    Winter Storm 1-29-10

    Post your reports here...

Right now its cloudy and not a hint of snow to speak of in Flattwoods. Some snow is showing up on radar but it is evaporating before it hits the ground. I believe that the snow will be here around 4 to 5 PM. AS for the "wettness" of the snow you really need to pay attention to the wind direction, if it stay to the N to NNE like it is doing right now we will be in good shape because this will keep temps down below 30*. We are reporting 24.1* here on Jaybird Branch Rd. If the wind shifts to the SW or SE we could be in trouble.

FYI: I have receieved a page per Jane Bennett (EOC Coordinator for Wise Co.) saying that in the event of Power Failure, people need to go to thier Local Fire Dept. for Shelter Information.

Saw some snowflakes in Norton too.
Had to look hard, but they're there. Nothing to write home about yet.
    You'll shoot your eye out.

    Re: Winter Storm 1-29-10

Got a dusting so far in Pennington. Looks like another smaller band about to move through for some, another stronger one trailing it getting close to the I-75/Knoxville line. Looking like it picks up in intesity and coverage with that one and on back.

Latest forecast models still show storm on track for now.

    Some radars....

    Jackson radar...
Current Jackson NEXRAD Radar Map : Weather Underground

Morristown/Knoxville radar (not usually a better view in SWVA but a better one looking south)...
Current Knoxville NEXRAD Radar Map : Weather Underground

    Re: Winter Storm 1-29-10

Well it started snowing here in Berea, KY at about 6 when it started flurrying. About 8pm or so and it just started pouring and still is. Already 6 inches and it doesn't show signs of stopping.

Only 3 to 6 inches was in the forecast!

Maybe a few inches where I live in Coeburn, water is the problem with those pipes in town, but I'm not expecting the electricity to go out at all...knock on wood.
